About us

The Tonal Few is a Netherlands-based jazz quartet formed in 2023 at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Leaded by Antonin Jaccard (vibraphone, Switzerland) and alongside Alberto Rodriguez (saxophone, Spain), Jarod Begusic (bass, France) and Ewen Grall (drums, France), the band is all about merging technical skills with danceable groove, to shape bridge between accessibility and complexity. Their signature style “Party Jazz ” takes cues from jazz, groove, pop, and world music, blending them into compositions that surprise while engaging.

In 2024 they won the Laren Jazz Talent Award — a recognition of their virtuosic playing, clear communication with audiences, strong originality, and inventive solos. The jury specifically praised their "tight sound", dynamic interplay, delicate textures, and the way groove and complexity coexist in their music. In the field of competitions, they also took part in the winning of Conservatorium Talent Award 2025 for Antonin.

After a successful tour in Switzerland, 2025 is a busy year as they independently released their first EP in January. Since then, they have performed more than 50 concerts across venues and festival in Europe. In the Summer their work expands with “The Tonal Synesthesia”, a collaborative project with the digital scenography collective Minus3. They are now planning the release of their new album, their first studio album, with which they’ll start touring in May 2026.

For The Tonal Few, Party Jazz isn’t just a label — it’s a promise: that every show is a space where listeners can enjoy music at its best, where complexity doesn’t intimidate and where accessibility doesn’t compromise depth. Their goal is always to transport, to surprise, and to have fun.

ALBERTO RODRIGUEZ - Saxophone

Alberto Rodríguez is a young saxophonist from Galicia, Spain. From an early age, Alberto developed a deep connection to music, which eventually led him to discover jazz and the expressive power of the tenor saxophone — an instrument that has become his main artistic voice.
He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Saxophone at the Hague's Royal Conservatory. There, he studies with respected musicians, developing a personal sound that blends his spanish roots with modern jazz influences and improvisational language.
Before moving to the Netherlands, Alberto spent a year performing with Los Satélites, a well-known Latin music orchestra in Galicia. This experience led him to explore Afro-Caribbean rhythms and Latin jazz styles, enriching his musical resources and stage presence.
